By Marc

Three Lions of England player Phil Foden was the star of the show as his Manchester City side ran riot at Chelsea in the first half to win the game at the expense of the Blues. England international Phil Foden scored one and provided another assist as Manchester City raced to a three-goal lead at the end of the first 45 minutes.Phil Foden scored two goals for England in their last game in November of last year and has surprisingly failed to start regularly for Manchester City in the league since that game in the UEFA Nations League. The Manchester City player scored twice for England in the last ten minutes as the Three Lions thrashed Iceland 4-0 at home. The visitors finished the game with ten men.

Phil Foden has not been a regular starter in the Premier League for Manchester City as pointed out earlier but he was able to make the most of a rare league start against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the weekend. He started for Manchester City due to the absence of some forward players as a result of the dreaded Coronavirus. His Manchester City side survived an early scare in the Chelsea game when Blues attacker Timo Werner went down in the box under the challenge from City midfielder Rodri but the Spaniard was adjudged to have gotten the ball.

Manchester City took the lead after good work from German international IlkayGundogan off the assist from young England midfielder Phil Foden. The Englishman went from provider to goalscorer three minutes later as he double his team’s advantage. Ex-Chelsea player Kevin De Bruyne added a third goal on 34 minutes to complete a dominant first half outing for the visitors. Chelsea substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi, also an England international, was able to reduce the deficit for the hosts in added time as Manchester City ran out 3-1 winners to move into the top five on the log.
