SOUTHGATE LEAVES ROLE

By Engerlund

The former England international Gareth Southgate has left his role as the head of elite development within the English football Association. The former Middlesbrough manager has been in charge of the technical aspect of the football Association for the last 18 months. However, he has left the post all of the sudden, while also stating that he does not want to be considered for the role as the technical director of the English football Association. Even though he has left his role as the elite development manager at the English football Association, Gareth Southgate has revealed that he will continue to remain in football by working as the pundit for ITV.

The 41-year-old was one of the influential members of the football Association in their efforts to bring in the national training academy. The reasons for his departure from the post are not clear yet. One of his main duties was to bring the better young players and also better coaches, which would aid England in doing well at the major tournaments. The English national football team has not been competing against the likes of Brazil and Spain when it comes to the international trophies. Further, the quality of the domestic managers has also decreased drastically and Gareth Southgate was brought in the improve it.

“I’d like to place on record just how much I’ve enjoyed working at the FA over the past 18 months. It really has been an honour and a pleasure. Hopefully, I have been able to play some part in delivering important changes to the way children play at the youngest levels. It has also been a tremendous experience to work on the delivery of St George’s Park. I would like to thank them for their support throughout my time with the organisation,” said Gareth Southgate.
