PROVE YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH

By Engerlund

England manager Roy Hodgson has said that he wants the players to prove that they have the ability to do well at a major tournament like the Euro 2012. England will be taking part in the Euro 2012 after missing out on the Euro 2008.

It seemed that former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello would be in charge of the team at the Euro 2012, which could have been his final major tournament with England. However, he offered his resignation from the job just a few months ago, which jeopardised the preparations for the tournament from the players.

The English FA only recently appointed former Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson as the successor for Fabio Capello. The former West Brom manager has said that he wants the players to prove that they have the ability to do well at a major tournament by giving their all in the opening match against France. England have been drawn in the group that also contains France, Ukraine, and Sweden. It is estimated that France and England will be competing against each other for a place in the quarter finals of the Euro 2012. The two sides have already met each other in a friendly match when Fabio Capello was in charge.

“I’d like to think I have the experience and knowledge to lead that nation into the future. But football’s played by the players. They have to do a good job. There are a lot of people who, after the World Cup in South Africa, will want to prove they are good enough, and I’ll be expecting performances from the players. It’s an opportunity for them to prove they should be involved,” said Roy Hodgson ahead of the preparations for the Euro 2012.

The former liverpool manager began his reign with a 1-0 win over Norway recently.
